Develop Yourself
As sales leaders, especially when we are also running the company, we need to take time to develop ourselves, even though our lives are crazy busy. We need time to innovate so we can transform our organizations.
We need to develop our leadership skills and learn ways to continue to develop our sales teams.
Stay on Top of Trends
We also need to stay on top of trends:
Sales trends – what do modern sellers need, what methods are working, how is AI impacting our sales and more.
Industry trends – we need to stay on top of what is happening in our own industry and what is happening in our customers’ industries.
When we have all of this information and time to think about it, it shapes the way we do things. It allows us to innovate and that innovation leads to the transformations we need to make.
It’s a lot and we barely have time to do our jobs. As sales leaders, our jobs become easier when we take time out to stay on top of things, learn and innovate.
Read and Listen
There are lots of ways to stay on top of these things day-to-day by taking time to read blogs, listen to podcasts and read or listen to great books but are you doing it?
Most likely your answer is, sometimes.
Attend a Conference
Another great way to stay current and keep learning is to attend conferences. I know, it’s hard to take a day or two away to be at a conference but it’s probably one of the best things you can do for yourself right now.
When you attend a conference, you get a break from the day to day. You learn new things and you meet new people. It charges your battery. Then if you schedule time to assimilate the information you learned and decide how you want to use it, magical things happen.
Sales Innovation and Digital Transformation in 2018
Competition is getting tougher. New competitors arrive on the scene continuously. It’s harder to reach the buyers through all the noise. We need to be proactive and continue the digital transformation. We must be more creative and more innovative.
Innovation creates a bridge between the old and new ways of running your business to better serve your customers.
Digital transformation demands that your sales team adapts, so they can stay relevant in a rapidly changing marketplace.
Both challenges require clarity of vision, the courage to change, and leadership that is driven to learn and collaborate.
