Happy 2017! I know for many 2016 was a hard year. For me, it was hard in many ways but also illuminating and powerful. The illumination came in better understanding who I am, who I can best serve, as well as how I can do that and stay sane. The power came with the deepening of connections with talented, caring people who lifted me up and allowed me the joy of lifting them up.
Today, I took the day to reflect. I made a list of those who had the biggest and most powerful impact on my year and then I wrote them notes of gratitude.
Who made a positive impact on you and your business? How will you let them know?
I’ll thank my friend Keenan for inspiring me to write this post. He started a chain reaction by posting Who Helped Me Most in 2016. I hope this inspires you to thank someone who helped you.
Who had the greatest impact on your year?
WHAT DID THIS PERSON HELP YOU ACCOMPLISHMENT OR ACHIEVE IN 2016?
Liz helped me grow my revenue by 27%.
WHY WAS THIS ACCOMPLISHMENT SO IMPORTANT TO YOU?
It put me back on track after a very lean year in 2015.
WHAT DID LIZ HEIMAN DO TO HELP YOU ACCOMPLISH THAT GOAL?
She put some processes in place and trained new employees, leaving me more time to focus on customer acquisition and retention. She listened to my ideas and helped me make them actionable. She carried some of the load.
HOW DID THIS PERSON’S SUPPORT MAKE A DIFFERENCE?
It made a difference because I was able to leverage her strengths to support my weak areas.
WHY ARE YOU SO THANKFUL FOR HER SUPPORT?
Because she did a lot of the work out of the kindness of her heart. She went above and beyond to help me.
HOW IS YOUR WORLD DIFFERENT TODAY BECAUSE OF THIS PERSON?
I feel more successful and able to launch into 2017 and beyond with new ideas and plans to grow.
WHAT DO YOU WANT TO SAY TO THIS PERSON, THAT YOU HAVEN’T ALREADY TOLD THEM?
Thank you for believing in me and putting your love and energy into my dreams.
FILL IN THE BLANK: I WOULD LIKE TO SEE “BLANK” SHARE WHO HAD THE MOST IMPACT IN HIS OR HER LIFE IN 2016.
I’d like to see my friend Dianna Geairn share who helped her most in 2016.
Please feel free to use this format to publicly or privately thank someone who made a difference in your life.

Gerhard Gschwandtner for another wonderful year with Sales 2.0 (now Sales 3.0) (Larissa and Lisa too). A shout out to Lori Richardson and the Women Sales Pros for their amazing support of women in sales. My STA group – you know who you are. Alice Kemper and Townsend Wardlaw for sharing some very simple ideas that I really needed. Anthony Iannarino, Mike Weinberg, Jeb Blount, Mark Hunter for giving me some big ideas. My team Liz Heiman, Amanda Seaton, Aidan Arata, Maddison Cervantes, Sabra Rubinstein. Special thanks to my Content Hero, Annie Flanzraich, my CFO, Justin Thomsen, and my Performance Coach, Deborah Dubree. Of course my wonderful, loving husband, Fred McElroy, my son, Will Arndt, my parents, and my ever-growing family. And all of you for believing in me and allowing me to share my thoughts with you and bring some ideas into your world. Whew! That would be too long for the Academy Awards and I could go on but, I’ll stop here and give myself a chance to thank more of you in 2017.
